What We Do
Maryland Big Tree Program
We identify, measure, and register the largest trees in Harford County, maintaining the largest Big Tree database in the United States through the MFF.
Envirothon
Supporting Maryland’s premier environmental education competition, helping local high school students test their knowledge of soils, aquatics, wildlife, and forestry.
NRCC Youth Camp
Sponsoring local students to attend the Natural Resources Careers Camp — a week-long immersive experience introducing high schoolers to careers in natural resources.
Community Tree Plantings
Partnering with local communities to plant trees throughout Harford County, improving air quality, reducing stormwater runoff, and beautifying our neighborhoods.
Timber Harvest Reviews
Providing expert advisory review of timber harvest plans, ensuring logging operations meet Maryland Forest Conservation Act standards and best management practices.
Outreach & Education
Educating the public, local government, and community groups about the importance of forests, proper tree care, and responsible forest management throughout Harford County.

The Harford County Forestry Board is a volunteer advisory body established under Maryland law to promote the conservation, management, and wise use of Harford County’s forest resources.
Operating under the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service and the Maryland Forestry Foundation, our board members bring expertise in forestry, ecology, land management, and environmental science.
